17th January

Our Annual Competition and AV day, with special guest judge and presenter Alastair Taylor. What a wonderful day we had, the quality of our members' AVs was superb and shown to their best on our big screen with top quality sound, thanks to Graham.  Alastair's comments were inspiring, very detailed and very constructive - as Keith pointed out in his Vote of Thanks, "not a negative word", all positive praise and helpful suggestions.   Alastair presented a most entertaining and enlightening selection of his own AVs, supported by a revealing insight into the back story behind many of them.
Congratulations to all the award winners especially Keith who swept the board.  Every entrant won something, which is very encouraging.

December meeting

This was the 60 second Competition where the only rule is that any AV entered must be one minute or less and no limit to the number of AVs members can enter. We had a magnificent nineteen entries, and as usual the range of subjects, styles and ideas was immense.  It was lovely that there was at least one entry from everybody present.
Congratulations to David Cudworth who took the trophy for his AV Sea Safari.
Dave Gibbins was in second place with Kew Gardens and third place went to Malcolm Imhoff for Crich Tramway Museum.

We enjoyed the mince pies c/o Jose' and everybody won a raffle prize!

November meeting
This was the ever-popular “You Are The Judge” evening.  Malcolm sourced six of the award-winning AVs from the Jurassic Coast AV Salon, three Music Poetry and Song AVs, and three “Open” AVs, the Winner, Second and Third in each category.  As usual there was a big variation of opinion from the members and our overall Winner the Winner of the Music Poetry and Song category by just one vote.  We are very grateful to the various AV producers for the opportunity to see their work.

September meeting

Leicester Movie Makers were our guests and a good number of their members came to entertain us with a fabulous programme of films.  This lively event has become a regular feature in our Programme, and next time we will be visiting them with a selection of our members’ AVs.
There’s a lot going on in the wider AV world.  Competitions coming up include;
The 2026 IAC Peter Coles International AV Competition  Saturday 7th March and Sunday 8th March 2026
This is being organised by Malcolm in conjunction with the IAC and EMAVG.  As it is an East Midlands Audio Visual Group event we are relying on the help and support of all our members.
